Steve Down leads cause capitalism revolution by stamping out homelessness with new concept, Steve’s Hotel
SALT LAKE CITY, January 13, 2017 — Cause leader, entrepreneur and Utah native, Steve Down, is leading the explosive cause capital revolution by stamping out hunger through his rapidly expanding restaurant venture, Even Stevens. In just over two years, the thriving ten-restaurant chain is near reaching a monumental one million sandwiches sold, which means Even Stevens will have donated in-turn, the fresh ingredients of one million sandwiches to local non-profits that are feeding the hungry.
Named Sandwich of the Year Award for two consecutive years by State Restaurant Associations, Steve Down is not content to stop there. His ambitious vision is to open 250 Even Stevens locations in the next five years, resulting in multi-millions being fed.
“We know that as humans, we have basic needs that must be met in order to survive. Hunger is at the top of the list,” said Steve Down, “A person needs to be fed before despair can possibly turn to hope. Once there is hope, lasting change from within can begin.”
The Even Stevens eat2give movement has ignited passion among dining loyalists who return time and again knowing they are directly contributing to stop hunger in their community. The sandwich shop is staffed with hand-selected employees who are told from their first day on the job to just be themselves. Between the feed-the-hungry movement, and a definable dining experience, Steve Down is excited to be expanding with six new restaurant openings in the next six months.
Replicating the Even Stevens cause-driven model, Steve Downs is focused on another basic human need of shelter. His next mission and venture is to stamp out homelessness with his new concept, Steve’s Hotel. When a guest books a room at Steve’s Hotel, Down in turn, provides a bed and shelter for someone in need in that community. Similar to Even Steven’s, Steve’s Hotel is a for-profit business that partners with local non-profits by providing a cash equivalent to the non-profit organization for every hotel room booked. The first Steve’s Hotel is in the building phase in McMinnville, Oregon, a town located between Portland and Salem.
Steve says this approach to capitalism is the new capitalism. He believes we are in a new space that demands a softer, kinder and more compassionate form of capitalism, he has coined as Cause Capitalism.
“The old way of capitalism is not only unappealing, it is in danger,” said Steve Down. “In order for capitalism to survive future generations, it must make a shift to cause capitalism—the kind of capitalism my children and grandchildren will proudly welcome and embrace.”
A successful businessman and entrepreneur, it is Steve’s ultimate desire to be remembered as the cause leader of this social revolution, knowing he has positively impacted local communities by providing food and shelter for millions.
